mothers-in-law in medical colleges

one might imagine that mother-in-laws make trouble only at home.
there are worse individuals in medical colleges, and all are not women too!
there is a story of the mother in law scolding the daughter in law because she refused buttermilk to a neighbour. the m-in-l ordered d-in-l to call the neighbour back and then; m-in-l refused buttermilk to the neighbour.
the m-in-l is commonly seen in departments of surgery.
it takes all decisions, even not allowing persons of 10 or more years experience to work independantly, just because they happened to be born some years after the m-in-l.

everything has to go through the m-in-l who will then allot work to the minions.
even when m-in-l is incompetent, untrained, corrupt; just because no one wants to spoil a running game, m-in-l gets a free hand.
the residents are there to get their degree and they are more supine than tapeworms. a snail might be more resistant than the resident.
others don't want to stand out for the fear of being hammered down.
what a shame!

help

one good intentioned gentleman asked me for my publications and presentations; with a hidden motive of being able to improve on my presentations.
however after reading several issues of the journal, he gave up and waxed eloquent on philosophy of surgery and so on.
just goes to show that some things are too technical for amateurs.
at this stage yet, i am not ready for philosophy. i still long to stand on the right side of patient and use cold steel!

what does it take to provide proper care to indigent patients?
attitude, attitude and more attitude.
lack of a caring attitude among the consultants, residents, servants is the most important reason for dissatisfaction among patients.
we seem to be forgetting that the establishment is for the benefit of the patient.
standards are for writing in a book or pasted on the wall, not to be followed.
the hospital spends crores of rupees on installing new diagnostic equipment but can not have three functioning diathermies with all accessories.
the hospital holds a seminar on surgical site infection where all professors talk but it does not have proper facilities to sterilize diathermy wires.
after the first series of procedures, patients are operated upon with boiled instruments.
it is not possible to find one person in the operation theatre who is wearing a proper cap, mask and gown.
why have doctors become so careless, so callous? it starts in the brain. the brain has to be callussed, then the hands will be calussed.
