the fresh attempt at publicity flopped miserably. he ought to have known better. whenever this was tried, the patient developed a complication and died. in interest of patient, publicity ought to be avoided.
well!
was reading a scripture, "bh-g--t". full of p**n. original g***p **x. how dare! despite the translator's bowdlerizing, nuggets manage to slip through. this ought to be read in the original. the text is available, language too isn't difficult.
another doctor book. glory glory hallelujah! the desire to become rich and famous seems to be inbuilt. did it exist in the early man? when did it appear? in small tribes, when everyone knew everyone else, and one's skills and abilities in hunting were known to all, did publicity matter? what is the status in amazon indians?
why don't barbers, cloth merchants, cobblers write autobiographies? and why not businessmen or chartered accountants? bankers?
why is it that doctors seem to have a monopoly on human understanding?

show
ramlinga raju resigned from the board of satyam because he 'showed' more profit where little existed.
he will not be invited to take up chairmanship of the private medical college and engineering college association.
these venerable entities( private medical and engineering colleges) were considered expert in showing stuff where none existed. but they could fool experts from mci and aicte, who are but teachers and gullible. the college managemens have been 'showing' buildings where none existed, equipment which was borrowed from another college, with fake receipts and vouchers; teachers which got appointed the day before inspection. so far so, even the government got into the act and started transferring teachers on 'usanwari' basis.
this gentleman(raju) managed to fool the auditors, bankers, shareholders, stock market experts, sebi, ministry of company affairs, and many more.
actually we ought to be proud.
the scan in dollar terms is 1 billion. indians are not behind when it comes to global scams too.
what fun!

rubaiyat of a surgical resident
awake for the anesthetist has discontinued
halothane and nitrous oxide
and lo the servants and residents have brought
the trolley to the table side
here with a metzenbaum scissor beneath the light
a bottle of blood, a pack of instruments
and thou! bagging beside me in the operation room
and the operation room is paradise enow!
dreaming when the suction catheter was in my throat
i heard a voice in distance cry
awake my little one and go to the ward
before the iv bottle runs dry
and as the monitors beeped, the patients stood before
the theatre shouted, open the door
you know how long we have been waiting
and once departed may return no more
now the new patient reviving old desires
the thoughtful resident to ot retires
where the white hand of Hunter on the knife
Puts out, and Lister from the ground suspires
Mayo is indeed gone with all his clamps
and Billroth's sharp scissor where no one knows
but still the drip her ancient water yields
and still a oxygen bottle by the table blows
come fill the syringe and in the fever of spring
the winter blanket of hospital fling
the student of night has but a little way in the ward
and lo! the student is on the wing
the moving scalpel cuts and having cut
moves on. Nor all thy piety nor wit
shall lure it back to cancel half a millimetre
nor all thy tears heal a millimetre of it
think in this battered operation room
whose doorways are alternate night and noon
how surgeon after surgeon with his pomp
incised his hour or two and went his way
they say the lion and lizard keep
the court where sushrut gloried and incised deep
and charak the great doctor, the wild goat
stamps on his head and he lies fast asleep
ah my beloved fill the vaporizer that clears
today of past regrets and future fears
tomorrow, why tomorrow i may be
myself with yesterday's seven thousand years
and those who husbanded the crimson fluid
and those who flung it the floor like rain

doctor's autobiography
there is this book written by a obstretician/g.p. in konkan. how he started practice, what difficulties he faced, what difficult patients he managed and how; and so on.
why do doctors always talk shop?
for laypersons, this just glorifies medicine.
professionals find it too dull.
if only there was a holmes

undergraduate teaching in private colleges
a undergrad in final year met me yesterday. getting down to teaching, it was shocking to learn that there is hardly any teaching happening. most teachers are not interested, juniors can't teach. there are few patients. there are few clinics in wards. what a shame!
honoraries don't visit and teach. why is this treachery against students? they are paying good money too.
i have asked for bhalani and will start teaching informally next week.
where there are patients and teachers, students don't bother; when students want to learn, teachers don't bother.
what use are buildings and classrooms?
